goal: smoother mornings + evenings.

Last week as I was laying low, I thought a lot about how to make our days and nights go a little smoother, and decided that we need to bring back an established morning and evening routine for all of us.

And since sometimes I find myself just wandering around half-completing jobs all day (think Phil Dunphy from Modern Family), I also made a little list for myself with my morning and evening chores.  I need direction!  I need lists!

And now that I've got a neatly numbered list hanging in my mudroom (with our almost complete lockers--woohoo!  just need to paint big numbers on each door), I get things complete in a much more timely manner.

Sometimes--like on the days I am doing bohemia work--I just set myself a time limit.  Like, okay Tiffany let's see how much of this list you can get done before 10:00. . .  Go!  It's like workshop for grown-ups.  Are you rolling your eyes at me?

Now my morning routine, I am still working on.  Not quite to the waking up at 6:30 mark yet--right now I'm stuck in a rut at 7:30.  But hopefully soon...

I've had a couple people ask what some of the things on my chore list are: mission and 5 minute rescue are terms from flylady.  Her website is really confusing to me and I don't use her full-blown plans, but there are some good nuggets in there if you take the time to look around...

The mission is a little "mission" they send to you each day in your email, for example, today's mission might be, take everything off your kitchen counters and give them a thorough wiping.

The 5-minute rescue (for me) is for spending five minutes on something that always piles up with clutter and paperwork: the desk area in my kitchen.  I spend the five minutes throwing things away, going through paperwork, etc. that accumulates there.
