me and my girl.

Today was a completely tantrum free day.  Oh sweet bliss.

Here is my report:  Buckle your seat belts this is exciting.  Just kidding.  You probably just want to skip this post.

1. Naps. Yesterday Ava Carmel had a three-hour nap.  Yowza.  I'm thinking maybe she is a little sleep-deprived.

2.  Girly Time.  Tonight we pulled out the Pretty Pretty Princess Game.  And I must tell you, if you have a four-year old daughter, you will not regret buying this game.  Ashlyn got it for her 4th birthday and for reals, we have played it hundreds of times over the years.

After we finished, I went to Lowe's to pick up a few things (sadly no paperwhite bulbs to be found this year), and as I was driving back home I realized I had left my pretty pretty plastic purple beaded earrings on.  I wonder what the checkout guy was thinking about me and my pretty earrings.

3.  Door knob.  I stopped using the locking door knob.  I could not handle listening to those heartbroken sobs, and feeling like Harry Potter's awful aunt and uncle locking him in his room under the stairs!  And I couldn't stop thinking that most of the time when I am acting in the most unloveable way is when I want someone to persist in being loving to me.  So I stopped.  It didn't help anyway--she was always way more upset after.

4.  Stickers.  I think doing this everyday for the last week and a half is starting to help.

5.  A new idea.  As I've been pondering about this problem, I got this idea for her to be a "secret fairy" to the other kids.  I feel in my heart that letting her experience the joy in giving service will make a huge difference.  Yesterday she made a card and note for Ashlyn and hid it under her pillow and could not wait for Ashlyn to find it.  I could tell she really loved doing this and it was so good for her to be focusing on someone else.  We'll keep doing this one for awhile.
