a ticket to andy's carnival.

Since we've only been in our new neighborhood for a few weeks, we decided to celebrate Andy's birthday with just our family this time around.

I think this is the first time in several years that we haven't had a bigger party for him with friends, etc. and so I was a little worried that he would be disappointed with just a small party with us, but he said "Yay! That's what I wanted!"

So either he was just being a sweetheart, or all those kids parties I plan (that I think are so fun) are not quite as thrilling as I thought they were!

Anyway I tried to think of some little surprises to make the day feel extra special for him.  So while the kids were sleeping we filled up these little popcorn containers with some popcorn and stuck in a little "carnival ticket."

Then we tucked the little popcorn box right up next to each child's bed, so that it was the first thing they saw when they woke up.  I get so giddy about these kind of details--I wish someone would plan a little party for me!  (Jimmy that one's for you.)

The next morning at 11:00 we all met in the kitchen, and I collected everyone's ticket before they could get in the car to head over to Andy's Carnival.  "Andy's Carnival" happened to be Jungle Jim's, which is like an indoor playland for kids, with little carnival rides, a carousel and arcade games.  It was fun for all.  Yes even me, because seriously isn't Wac-A-Mole the funnest game in the world?!  (They had one you did with your feet.  It was awesome.)
