autumn harvest.

I hope you all had a lovely long weekend!  We spent most of ours outside--up in the canyon, going on picnics in the park, and lots of time in the yard--pruning and weeding and harvesting lots of our purple grapes and crisp apples.

I think maybe we picked the apples a little too soon though...  We're kind of learning as we go here.

But even imperfection is good!  And I'm so glad that we planted a few fruit trees when we first moved in.  They are really starting to produce a lot now.  We have two varieties of pear trees, an apple tree, two plum trees (which are growing over our arbor--we planted them right next to the arbor and then wired all the branches to the arbor...it so pretty now with loads of purple plums hanging under the arbor) and of course lots of grape vines to give our yard a little more privacy.  They are really good seedless grapes, and if we leave them out in the sun, they make really delicious raisins too.  (Perfect on a spinach salad with some thin slices of pears and blue cheese crumbles.)
