lighting up ava's room.

So the night before Ava's birthday, after she fell asleep, I had this brilliant thought that I should hang a few of the battery operated light-up lanterns in her room.  So if she woke up in the middle of the night, she would see that magical sight of the floating lanterns gleaming!

Well after I hung up a few, I got all excited and thought maybe I should just go ahead and hang them all up. (Originally I was just planning on having them hanging above the tables at the party.)

So I had Andy and Cam get out of bed to help me, ever so quietly, hang the rest of the lanterns.  They were more than happy to oblige and pretty soon we had her whole room filled with lanterns--it was so fun and it looked so amazing! and I was a little giddy about it all.  (Cam and Andy thought it was pretty cool too.)

But it looked so magical, that then I wanted to wake Ava Carmel up so she could see the gorgeous sight, (Jimmy tried to deter me, but I would have none of it. those lanterns just looked amazing. no wonder Rapunzel wanted to see them.  and besides they wouldn't look nearly as glowy with the morning sun.  and besides you only get a birthday once a year.  and glowing lanterns in your bedroom, once in your lifetime, if you're lucky! and ava was lucky!)

Unfortunately, she was in her deepest REM cycle, and could not be woken to save her life. or to see the lanterns.  She even covered her ear with her hand, in her sleep, to get that pesky voice to stop whispering for her to wake up and look at the lanterns!

After the covering of the ear, I finally took a hint and let her rest peacefully.  (But thankfully she started coughing in the middle of the night and I had to get her a drink of water, which woke her up, and she got to see the glowing lanterns.)

Phew.

Oh yeah, and she LOVED them too.
