a garden tea party.

We weren't planning on blue skies for Ashlyn's birthday party, since the last month has been drizzly and gray for the most part.  But what do you know?!  We woke up and there was nothing but blue skies!  So we quickly moved the white drop-leaf table outside and set up all the food out there, and kept all the craft projects inside.
You know I was a little nervous about this one, but the girls were all darling and seemed to have such a fun time!  Ashlyn was a huge helper for this party and we made lots of happy memories together while getting it all ready.  I love you, my girl!

Our cakes got a little stuck in the pans, so there were a few giant holes in the sides!  It sure was yummy though, even if it wasn't a real looker!  Lemon cake with lemon curd between the layers and a lemon cream cheese frosting: Ashlyn's favorite (and Jimmy's too)...

My friend loaned me her cute little mismatched tea sets she picked up at the thrift store a couple years ago for her little girls birthday party.  I think that's a perfect way to go for little girls or really for anytime.  That way if one gets accidentally dropped, everyone can still be happy :)

we had lots of buttons and tulle and pompom and paper for them to choose from, to make their very personalized party hat.  a few of those jellybeans and licorice pieces even ended up on a couple!
