it's raining cats and dogs.

For the most part it has been a happy commotion here, with all the kids home from school the last couple days.  Today we all went to Target to find a gift for our cutie cousin/niece Ella, and saw some itsy little sock monkeys.

Of course, they all wanted one.  What is it with kids and stuffed animals?   We've got them coming out our ears over here.  I asked Andy today why he always wanted to buy stuffed animals with his hard earned lemonade stand money, and he said most seriously, "because they are really alive."

So I said maybe we could try making our own little sock dogs and kitties since 1. my children think that doing "projects" is the best fun around and 2. I've been reading a lovely little book called The Homemade Home that is totally inspiring (written by designer/stylist Sania Pell)

adorable ideas + beautifully styled photos = book I don't ever want to return to the library

If only I had a few more hours in the day, you can be sure I would be a crafting maniac.  As it is, I am just a wannabe.  But if it keeps raining, I think we'll be needing a few things to keep us all entertained; things like making fabric bandaids :) and sock kitty cats.
