a winter mitten birthday party

1. Andrew blowing out his birthday candles. 2. The mitten garlands I made did double duty. First festively hanging on the Christmas tree and then hanging over the birthday table. 3. Working intently on the mitten lace-up craft. 4. The mitten cakes I hurriedly frosted since I woke up one hour and fifteen minutes before the party began! I truly cannot remember the last time I slept in that long. So they were a little sloppy, but gobbled up just the same.

We celebrated our Andy's fifth birthday this last week. I can't believe how with each successive child the time seems to go faster and faster. If there were a pause button for life, I would be hitting it now, because it's so good. (I'm knocking on wood as I type this, or whatever these infamous chairs from brocade are made of. Probably not wood.) I can hardly bear the thought of letting him go to kindergarten next year. He is such my little buddy.
