backyard pool party

Due date at the end of July (not fun). Summer birthday (super fun). Here's some highlights from our cutie pie Cam's swim party.

Food:

•life preserver cake (I forgot I was going to put a rope around the life preserver to make it look more authenti
c until after the party was over. of course.)
•plenty of drinks out for hot thirsty kiddos

•jelly beans around in little bowls to snack on

Decorations:

• Balloons floating in pool (did not work out as I had envisioned)
• happy birthday banner (see previous post)
• red and blue dots (borrowed from the kids summer workshop jars)

• red and white balloons tied around

Games:
• Balloon Toss. Make target from three swim noodles duct taped together. Have plastic plates floating inside of noodle circle with numbers written on them. Target and plates float in pool. Boys stand on the side of pool, taking turns tossing water balloons, add points up for each child
• Beach Ball Race. Boys pretend they are seals and push beach ball with their nose to the finish line.

Music:
I think it always adds to the festivity if music is playing, so we chose Beach Boys Greatest Hits for this shindig.

Party Favors:
• beach ball and squirt gun

We had such a great time at this party! If you don't have access to a pool, I think the kids would have a lot of fun with a few store bought pools set up in the backyard. As long as there are places (and people) to SPLASH, they will have a good time!
