busy bees
Here Andrew and Ashlyn are perfecting their waggle dance skills (by the way, the waggle dance is a real bee dance. It means food has been found far away). Read on for more of this week's teach me mommy highlights. Bzzz. Bzzz.
Discussed the different jobs held in the local beehive. Scouting bee does the dancing to let the worker bees know where to go for food. Drew chalkboard lines for the children to follow to practice their bee dancin' skills. (also nonchalantly tied this into how each member of our family needs to work together to help our home run smooth, just like the beehive).
Sat down on the back patio and read the young explorer national geographic cover story with the kids gathered around.
Picked a few flowers and found the yellow pollen dust and nectar inside. Sneezed a few times.
Painted a beautiful picture that would make any bee proud.
Planted a few flowers for the bees to pollinate (see how very sneaky I am).
Enjoyed a refreshing fruit nectar drink and a scrumptious little treat of banana/pretzel/chocolate chip bees. Yes, I know those little bees are really a stretch for your imaginations, but that's all I had to work with. Grocery shopping isn't very productive with four kids in tow. We end up with a random assortment of thermometer covers, frozen raspberries and Toblerone. Wierd.
