project silhouette

I love these colorful silhouettes (without the flowery stuff at the neck, for me) and even the black and white ones I like. In the past I haven't usually liked the black and white ones. Perhaps it stems from a second grade mother's day art project when all my classmates made fun of my silhouette because it looked like I had no neck (not my mother, she thought it was lovely). But it's true. I'm a much better view from straight on. Not so flattering with the profile.

So how would you do it I ask myself? I think: take a picture of the subject. Enlarge it and cut the subject out of the picture. Trace onto colorful/patterned paper and cut out. I'm not sure if this is the best way, but I think that is how I'll try it. If you know a better way, please share. It's a rainy day and I'm in the mood for a project. (Although I would really prefer it if the sun would come out so we could go swim.)
