a little peek with phone pics.
there are still a few original door knobs in the 1928 home we are buying.
This morning we had a piper & chloe meeting and looked over all the fabulous applications we have been receiving. Oh it is going to be such a great show--we are so excited!
After that it was time for little Ava to get to school and then I rushed back home to try to clean the house up a little before my mom and dad return from their vacation.
Oh my gosh. It is quite a disaster over here! My parents were already in the middle of stripping wallpaper and repainting pretty much their entire main floor--including the bedroom we are using--so there is furniture and accessories moved all over, away from the walls, so the painters can do their job.
And then to make that process even more exciting!... our family of six showed up last week with jam packed suitcases and a few extra boxes and furniture pieces that wouldn't fit into storage! Oh my. I am a lucky girl to have such gracious, welcoming parents.
After trying to clean up (which mostly consisted of shifting stuff from one place to the other), it was back to pick up the kids and run them to ballet and piano lessons.
However, in the midst of all that, we did have a wonderful moment where we took the kids to see the house we will *hopefully* be closing on in the next day. (Oh I say that so many times everyday, I surely do hope it really will be tomorrow. We have now had four extensions on the original deadlines. I know we are not the only ones hoping this will be the last one!)
cam checking out the view.
ashlyn and i are in love with all the non-energy-effecient/screenless windows! look at those cute bolts and latches...
an original fireplace. keeper.
why hello beautiful leaded glass window. reminds me of this one we designed for our last home.
and the window on the staircase.
ava carmel loved pulling out the carpet staples!
Anyhow, it was great to be in "our" home. A few tears may have even escaped! Yes, I am kind of fragile these days!! Never been such a crier as I have been the last two weeks. I have nearly perfected my calming breathing though, getting so much better at keeping positive thoughts, working on staying true to the kind of person who I want to be, and not a freakish yo-yo reacting to every situation that presents itself!
The kids were so excited--up to now they have only seen the home from the outside. And I actually had only been inside once, for like 20 minutes. It was a little smaller than I remembered, but full of beautiful charming details that we will preserve as we begin the renovating process. We will start on the basement immediately after moving in, and then work our way through each floor. A lot of people dread renovating, but I LOVE it!
Except for the dust. Maybe we will just go on a couple long trips during those extra dusty times (i.e. demo and drywall sanding!)
Fingers crossed that we have great news tomorrow!
