a boys room: stop and go.

It's always so nice to look at the pictures taken of rooms, right after we finish them.  I wonder how long they stay looking this way?!  If it's anything like around here, not long.  Not long at all!  Yikes, our house is a total disaster today after having a sleepover with cousins last night...  But rest assured good times were had!

So anyway, these are some of the pictures from the room we worked up from the inspiration board I posted yesterday.

Since we had a very tight budget set for this room, one thing we really needed was a low-cost solution for a colorful window treatment.  Window treatments can be some of the costliest parts of any design project, especially a custom roman shade, which is what I would have normally used with this type of window/room configuration.

So I was super happy to have inspiration strike with these colorful buntings.  They read as a window treatment, although they obviously don't provide much privacy (the client already had wood blinds in place, so that was already taken care of).

It's purpose was more just to give the room a little element of surprise and lots of color.  And I loved the way they turned out!

We had these ones custom made by knotted nest.  She was fabulous!  I sent over our inspiration board and asked her to create something that would work within those parameters. (Our only request was no florals, since after all, this is a room shared by two fighter-jet loving boys!)
