project lacing cards

Lace-up cards are fun for many reasons. First, whenever I say lace, I think of my sister Lacey, which is always a good thing. Love you, Lace. Second, they keep my kids quiet and concentrated. Like at the doctors office, on an airplane (for at least a good ten minutes and then it's back to handing out ear plugs) or during church. Third, they help with the hand eye coordination thing everyone gets so excited about. And fourth, and most important, they are are a fun little crafty project for me to make, with many uses I might add. (If you are an astute gillar girl reader you will have noticed ava's birthday invitation was on one of these, and they were also party favors at her piggy party).

The template is from an old martha stewart kids magazine (if you want it, let me know and I'll email it to you--tiffany@ds-kids.com). It's very important to find nice heavy card stock paper that is cute on both sides. (Good heavens, you don't want a lace-up card that's only cute on one side). And to make sure they live a long and prosperous life, laminate them before you punch the holes. Yes, it is thick and you may need to wear a wrist brace for a week afterwards but it just may be worth giving yourself carpal tunnel syndrome for. Totally (mostly) kidding.
