a pretty drive.
Pretty, pretty autumn. We really love going for drives and hikes to see all the colorful trees.
Even though this time Ashlyn and Cam didn't want to come along. Jimmy and I quietly contemplated leaving them behind since they are fine being home alone. And we didn't want grumpiness in the car. Crazy I know.
But I just don't want to start a habit of breaking up our family activities because one person isn't excited about it. And we knew they would have a fun time once they were out of the house. (I think they had a zhu zhu pet compound under construction or something equally as enticing.) So for now, we have decided there is no "stay home option."
Jimmy packed up a little picnic and we headed into the mountains, so we could enjoy some beautiful fall foliage. And what do you know? We all had a lovely time. Moms are so smart.
The key, we have found, to making Sunday drives a success, is to make sure there is ample time spent outside the car, as well. This time we explored this waterfall, observed little brown trouts in the stream (the nice guy fishing for them even let Andy reel one in), ate a picnic lunch on the Brighton Lodge outdoor patio and played at a little park in Sugarhouse on the drive back.
I love this time of year. And I really love this cute little family of mine.
