a birdie party
Here are a few of the highlights from our Ashlyn's birthday party. She loves all things delightful and pretty, so I made some garlands and Jimmy and I hung them around her room while she was sleeping. She loved them so much she wants to keep them hanging up permanently. (We did however, remove them temporarily to use as the party decorations.) We played a couple simple party games--one was the treasure hunt that ended with the little bird "nests," which were also the party favors. Then it was ice cream and a leaning tower of lemon cake! (The leaning part was not on purpose :)
Even though I always knew I wanted to have children someday, I had no inkling how absolutely fulfilling motherhood would be for me. I have no regrets of having children when I was young or of not pursuing a busy career right now. And this little girl is what started it all. I love you my girl.
{this picture was taken when you were three years old when we lived in our little 1940 bungalow. we had just finished raking a gazillion bags of leaves and this little white kitty came over to jump in the leaves with you. our photographer neighbor drove by and couldn't resist the cuteness, so she grabbed her camera and snapped a few pictures. cameron was a couple feet away. . . eating the leaves.}
