oh christmas tree

So this year after deliberating over hot cocoa and sugar cookies at the christmas tree lot, we decided to go with a grand fir. First and foremost, because they were half the price of noble firs. HALF. I don't mean to be grinchy, but doesn't $95 seem a tad much for a tree you can't plant? However I also refuse to buy an artificial one. Never, no never. Which leaves me with a grand fir tree in my family room. Which actually I quite like. I think it looks like we walked up the mountain, chopped it down, twined it to a sled, sat on top of it and slid back down the mountain, all the while wearing those cute hats with ear flaps. Which is exactly the look I love. So, good and good.

I found these big wood stars at a discount store. They were painted red, navy and yellow, so I spray painted them white. Ah, much better.

I finally finished my mitten garlands. Yay! I think I will use them as decorations at Andy's wintery birthday party in a few weeks as well.

The painted wood ornaments are the ones my family used to hang on our tree when I was a little girl. Such good memories. I still love them (family and the ornaments).

Doesn't it seem that all is right in the world when you turn off all your lights, snuggle on the couch and look at your Christmas tree glowing so beautifully?
