i wanna be a cowboy.
Cam's weekend plans all revolved around learning to be a cowboy. After a western-themed assembly in school last week, he felt sure that becoming a cowboy was a lofty and attainable goal and set out immediately to make himself into a respectable cowboy. He requested that I make him a How To Be A Cowboy list, so he can make sure he learns everything he needs to know. I told him I really didn't know a lot about cowboys other than how to kiss 'em but I would try. (And I also promised I would talk to my brother in law that knows how to ride a horse. Cam's sure that he will know.)
Here's our list so far: 1. wear a cowboy hat 2. lasso things and 3. ride a horse. So it has been a very busy weekend for him, as he has had no prior cowboy training and his parents are obviously pretty uneducated in the cowboy department.
The hat has been removed only for church and sleep. The cowboy outfit has been carefully laid out on the chair each night with the lasso coiled at the end of the sleeve and the wooden gun stuffed in the pocket of the jeans.
He has learned to lasso.
He has been trying to tame a wild mustang (bike) and was working hard all afternoon on the "crop" planting. He and Andy picked all the kernels out of those corn cobs, found a bare spot in the flower beds and hoed, raked and planted the kernels while Jimmy, Ava & I snoozed the afternoon away. He requested some cowboy music and all I could come up with was This Is The Life, but he thought it was the perfect cowboy song and played it over and over. . . and over.
Tonight before he fell asleep he said "I hope I never want to stop being a cowboy." Could I love this boy any more? No I don't think I could. I do believe he is the cutest cowboy ever. And I've seen some cute cowboys.
