Pretty in pink
Are you singing this? Cuz now I am. But, I have a confession. Shhhh. (I feel as though I must whisper this.) I didn't think Molly was very pretty in pink. I know this will upset the huge cult following, but I always wished they had chosen a different color, like maybe brown or even green. . . The Psychedelic Furs could have sang "isn't sheeeee pretty in green." It could have worked. Unless, of course, the song was out first--which I really can't remember the details on that.
Anywho. Moving right along. We've got an upcoming event around here and I thought I'd fill you in--while making a master list for myself. I, like many of you, am passionately in love with lists. So, here's the low-down on our pink party birthday extravaganza.
Invitation:
Paper doll cutouts, patterned paper dresses glued on, info on one of them (including wear your favorite party dress)
Cake:
Cupcakes have been requested by the birthday girl and I am always so happy to oblige when it's cupcakes versus a real cake. This is our little inspiration piece, however we will be doing it with our own little twist; white frosting, pink frosting circles and brown m&m's
Decorations:
A gazillion (okay fine, maybe like forty) pink helium balloons. They will be floating all around the birthday table until after ice cream & cake. Afterwards all the girls and balloons will go outside to let them go. White glossy wrapping paper will cover the table with some pink paper polka-dots. Along with a few big vases of pink flowers cut from our flowering trees. Come on trees. You've got another few days to do your thing.
Party run-down:
-make party hats (we will work on these as guests are arriving)
-crazy getting to know you game
-appetizers
-egg race (hard boiled eggs some dyed pink, some white). This game was invented by ashlyn so hold on tight: the girls will be divided into two teams. The first person on each team will have a spoon and will run down to a bowl of eggs set quite a distance away. They will scoop up an egg with their spoon (no hands) and try to get back to their team as fast as they can while maneuvering a couple of obstacles, including a balance beam and a limbo pole. Once they reach the starting line and their awaiting team they must lower the egg into a bowl with the spoon without breaking it. The team who finishes first with the most unbroken eggs wins. What do you think? I think she is a pretty awesome game inventor.
-decorate paper dolls (if we have time, maybe save until end if time seems short)
-scavenger hunt (message mysteriously shows up at the front door with clues scattered around for them to find, ultimately leading to the urns filled with candy sticks and lollipops)
-ice cream & cake, open presents
-three wishes to be attached to the balloons (if they float all the way up--to where you you can no longer see them--without popping, they will come true. I know. My other job description is fairy godmother.)
Food:
tea sandwiches (ham & cheese and pb&j), dipped strawberries, yogurt pretzels, yogurt covered raisins, thinly sliced watermelon, lemonades, cupcakes & ice cream
Party favors:
Big yummy candy sticks and lollipops. Each guest can choose one and we will tie it right up in a little cellophane bag with a pretty ribbon.
So there you have it. A pretty in pink birthday party.

ReplyDeleteGood job organizing it and putting it together. I think I'm going to do a balloon theme for Kai's b-day coming up thanks to your idea.
k tiff, that sounds awesome! You are the party queen. Sounds like a lot of work and a BLAST...have fun A!
ReplyDeleteTiffany- do you do this much work for all of your kids b-days? If you do I am going to go to bed depressed. You are so great, your kids are so lucky to have such a super mom! And don't be mad if I ever steal some of your ideas, they really are great!
ReplyDeleteTiff...you have the cutest ideas, she will love her birthday and will never forget it!!! You are so darling!
