I Looked Out the Window. . .
Finally. Blossoms on our trees are starting to emerge. It has been a very long time in coming and I hate to be a crank, but dear Mother Earth let's make it a little shorter next year, yeah?We could make a deal. . . What if I cut my pesticide use by half, that's right, HALF this year. So be it if I die from a black widow bite. I'm willing to risk it . . . IF I get a shorter winter.
So, in celebration of the trees blossoming and earth day, last week's teach me mommy school was all about trees.

TEACH ME MOMMY - TREES-read I Am A Bunny by Ole Risom (a bunny shares his favorite things of each season)
-discussed the characteristics of trees in each season
-played "name that season" (I said a characteristic of a season, Andy would guess which one it was)
-went outside and looked at a few different trees, picked some blossoms that looked like popcorn
-sang Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree, quite a few times
-made a flowering "popcorn" tree from pieces of tissue paper
-made popcorn balls together
Mmmm. Popcorn balls are so yummy. Especially with a little grass mixed in. . . it sort of went along with the theme.
Thanks Tiff, I love the Teach Me Mommy weekly updates. I do them all! Love them!
ReplyDeleteTiffany, your blog always brings a smile to my face! I love the idea of the Teach Me Mommy School. I will have to try it out on Lorin. Oh, and the kimonos are DARLING! Not to say that I'm going to try making one...but they're way cute.
ReplyDeletePopcorn popping song, a classic :) A favorite in our primary! I like how you did the popcorn balls to go along with it.
