Eggs & Chicks . . . Easter Fun

Can you see my cute little chicks up there? Each of my kids has their very own little chick. To the untrained eye they all look the same. But they know. . . oh, yes they do. I've only got a few Easter decorations, but Andy and I made a fun hour out of putting them up for our weekly teach me mommy class.

We planted our wheat grass. This grows really fast (like within four days you'll have grass), so you've got PLENTY of time to do it before Easter on the 23rd. Every wheat kernel becomes a blade of grass, so if you want it thick put tons of kernels in. (this seems to be an ongoing thing, but seeds or kernels? not sure.) Saturate with water for the first couple days. This picture was taken a week after we planted AND it's been trimmed once.

Teach me Mommy School - Easter:

-read Peter Rabbit
-talked about Easter as time of things coming to life again
-walked around yard looking for signs of spring/life
-dug dirt and planted wheat grass
-found a spot for the chicks and other decorations
-colored Easter egg picture
-made Easter egg sugar cookies & frosted like easter eggs

  5. How fun! I'll have to try the wheat grass thing. Is it just regular wheat? Who knew!

  6. It's just regular wheat--like the kind you would have in your food storage!
