Good Things Come to Those Who CAN'T Wait
Have I mentioned yet how TIRED of winter I am? Yes, I know I have, and I don't know why I keep saying it because it really doesn't help me feel any better about things . . . however this does.A few weeks ago I clipped some branches from a magnolia tree in my yard and stuck them in vases for a stark, wintry centerpiece. I added an inch of water just in case I might be so lucky, but I really didn't think I could force blooms that early. But LOOK! This little beauty showed up a couple weeks later.
The leaves followed shortly after and have been sprouting (do leaves bloom or sprout?) over the last week and I LOVE it! (And I might as well mention that I love my new dining room mirrors too!) I think it's flowers bloom and leaves sprout, right? Either way, every time I walk through my dining room I feel happy, oh so happy, that spring is close enough that I can force blooms (and sprouts) now.

wow tiff that is so artsy. I love the mirrors and what a fun surprise to have "sprouts" :) I love the color too. I'll bet that tree looks fabulous is spring time. Our neighbors have that kind of tree too I love looking at it.
ReplyDeletethey are so beautiful. I am trying it...I trudged out in the foot of snow that is STILL in our backyard and cut me a few branches. Hopefully mine turn out as springy as yours!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! We had snow yet again today, but I have been, like you, enjoying my forced blooms. Forsythia. It was my first year trying it, and it is definitely going to become a tradition!
